3 Three-Ingredient Recipes To Try

By Shaina Eldredge on December 11, 2017

My favorite types of recipes are those simple three-ingredient recipes you can find anywhere on the internet. I enjoy three ingredient recipes not only because they are simple, but because they greatly reduce the amount of unknown ingredients I put into my body; if you looked on the label of your pizza sauce can, would you be able to pronounce every single ingredient or dye put into it?

This is why I prefer cooking at home — I heard somewhere long ago that you shouldn’t eat something if you can’t even pronounce every ingredient in what you are eating. Three-ingredient recipes solve that problem, as well as give you a sense of accomplishment for making something so good at home. Without further adieu, here are three of my favorite three-ingredient recipes.

1. Oat Bars

This recipe started off as a vegan and gluten free recipe, and it very easily can be. I just don’t have very many vegan or gluten free things in my house, so feel free to use your own variant of each ingredient within this recipe.

You will need:

-1 and a quarter cup of oats

-1 cup of peanut butter

-1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey

All you do for this recipe is mix together the oats and syrup, heating for 20 minutes in the microwave every so often until it is warm. After that mixture is complete, you fold in the oats until it gets difficult to mix anything anymore. Then you pop your 8-9 inch pan or casserole dish into the freezer and freeze the whole thing for about an hour. Then cut into bars or squares and you have your own snack for the rest of the week!

2. Pizza Sauce

We make our own mini pizza muffins often, and we found out a long time ago that it is much cheaper to make our own pizza sauce than to buy a new jar every few times.

You will need:

-8 oz tomato sauce

-1 teaspoon garlic salt

-1 teaspoon oregano

For this, you simply just have to mix all three ingredients in a sealable jar and then you have pizza sauce!

3. Peanut Butter Cookies

I’ve been making these cookies since before I started college, and they are so easy to make and they go really well with a tall glass of milk. I make them every once in a while for my coworkers and they are gone within the first 20 minutes every time.

You will need:

-1 cup Peanut Butter

-1 egg

-1 cup sugar

You want to mix all three ingredients in a bowl until it reaches a batter-like consistency. Roll up each cookie into a little ball and place it onto a cookie sheet. Use a fork to press down the ball flat to make the little criss-cross pattern that peanut butter cookies often have. Bake them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until they get lightly brown on the bottom.
